Congratulations on your upcoming Wedding!

Finding your dream Wedding Cake may be the first thing on your "To Do" list or even the last. Either way I am sure that you have probably found out by now that each time you mention the word "Wedding" the price doubles!

Well, Not Here!!

Thats not to say we comprimise on anything. The price of our Wedding Cake is calculated the same way as our Birthday, Novelty and Celebration Cakes and each of of our Wedding Cakes are hand made and designed to suit you and your Wedding Day.

Even if the Wedding Cake does not appear at the top of your priority list, Wedding Cakes are always prominently displayed at your reception and is quite often the first thing that your guests see when they arrive. Your Wedding Cake can pull together the theme and colours of your wedding and will always appear in your Wedding album! 

We will help you to create a Wedding cake that deserves all of the above and is unique to you, but don't worry - if you have already seen your dream Wedding Cake we can "tweek" it a bit so that your Wedding Cake is still unique!


Choosing Your Wedding Cake............
In "The good old days" a traditional Wedding Cake was a square fruit cake iced white with a Bride & Groom on top. Today, Wedding cakes are much more elaborate with vibrant colours, decoration and a multitude of styles.

One of the first things to decide is the style of Wedding Cake that you would like.  There is a wide range of options and examples are:-


Tiered Wedding Cakes

Wedding Cake Stands
Wedding Cake Stands are used to display individual Wedding Cakes at different levels / angles. There are many different styles of cake stands available (see our Stand Hire Page) ranging from 2 tiers to 4 tiers.

Tiered Wedding Cakes with Pillars
 This is a more traditional Wedding Cake where the tiers are seperated
using Pillars. the pillars are available in all different shape and sizes. Some couples choose to have them camouflaged with flowers or some other form of decoration.

Stacked Wedding Cakes
Stacked Wedding Cakes are where the cakes are stacked directly on top of each other. This style is probably one of the most popular and more modern than the above.


Cupcakes and Cupcake Towers
Cupcakes and Cupcake Towers are becoming increasingly more popular as an alternative to the Traditional Wedding Cake. The cucpakes are placed on a stand with multiple tiers and can give that "wow" factor if only due to the height once assembled. Some couples choose to have a small "Cutting" cake as the top tier so they can still have that all important picture of the Bride and Groom cutting the cake.

The decoration on each individual cupcake is limited only to imagine. Some couples choose to have a mimalist look and have only their initals or a simple heart decoration whilst others may choose to have flowers matching the Brides bouquet.

Novelty Wedding Cakes
Novelty Wedding Cakes are definately a break from tradition! Most Bride and Grooms who choose a Novelty Wedding Cake do so to reflect their personalites and may incorporate hobbies and interests into the cake. Currently, popular Novelty Cakes come in the form of Suitcases and Fairy Castle's. Wonky Wedding Cakes are also becoming more and more popular.


How Much Cake......?
The next step is to figure out how much Cake you will need. The table below gives an indication based upon traditional portion sizes of 3x2x1 inches for sponge cakes and 3x1x1 inch for fruit cake. My husband calls these "bite sizes" so if you do like a lot of cake it is probably best to go larger!

Setting Your Budget............


Once you have decided on the style and size of cake that you would like, the next step is to decide how much you are prepared to pay. Obviously the larger the budget, the less trouble you will have finding your dream Wedding Cake.

If your budget is more modest (which most people's are!)  the following points will help you create your dream Wedding Cake without breaking the bank!

Hand Made Sugar Flowers
Hand Made Sugar Flowers are labour intensive and this is therefore reflected in the price. Rather than have a replica of your bouquet as the decoration on your cake consider choosing a flower from your bouquet and replicating this instead.......

Type of Cake
Fruit cake is the most expensive cake to have due to the cost of the ingriedients and the time it takes for the flavours to mature. Opting for sponge or chocolate cake instead will help to keep your cake within budget.

Hand Made Figures / Toppers
A personalised Bride & Groom takes time to make and is therefore reflected in the price. An alternative to this would be to have ready made toppers instead.

Set Up / Delivery
Most Wedding cakes (stacked cakes in particular) do not need the expertise of the cake designer to deliver and stage on your Wedding Day. If you are working to a limited budget why not task this job to a member of the wedding party.........
