INFORMATION REGARDING COLLECTING YOUR CAKE

Due to the current pandemic, we are operating a contactless collection service.

We will contact you in the days leading up to your collection date to arrange a mutually convienient time. If you like to plan further ahead please feel free to contact us sooner.

Please bear in mind that we are a home based business and do not have set opening times. Therefore collection is strictly by appointment only which will be arranged around other customers collecting their cakes and of course our own commitments.

  • Weekend collection times will be offered on Saturday mornings unless prior arrangements have been made when placing your order.
  • A 1/2 hour timeslot will be arranged with you to arrive and collect your cake. Please note, if you are early/late we cannot guarantee that we will be there to handover your cake and therefore recommend you contact us if you are delayed or ahead of schedule.
  • Upon arrival, please knock on the door (this is cleaned after every use) and step back.
  • We will carry the cake to your car wearing PPE and place the cake in your car for you. (The boot of your car is the safest place for the cake to be transported - see below)
  • We will then step back and allow you to inspect your cake to ensure you are happy with it before leaving.

TIPS FOR TRANSPORTING YOUR CAKE

We will do everything we can to ensure your cake is as robust as possible and arrives at its destination in one piece.

This includes being provided in a suitable box, ensuring any decoration is secured to the cake and inserting any internal supports where necessary. However, the rest is up to you! Below are some tips to help you on your way :-

  • When lifting the cake, place both hands under the board of your cake – think fork lift truck!! The cake boxes are not rigid and this helps to prevent squeezing the sides which may cause damage to the cake or its decoration.

  • Please ensure your vehicle has a space large enough to carry your cake. A large flat surface is required; the best place is the boot of the vehicle and we are happy to provide some non slip matting if you are concerned about the cake sliding. Your seats are NOT a good location due to the slope of them and under no circumstances should your cake be placed here. Passenger laps are also not recommended – especially for stacked cakes.
  • Ensure that there is nothing that can slide or fall onto your cake during your journey.

  • It is recommended that you drive directly to your cakes final destination. Your cake should not be stored in your car.

  • And finally drive carefully!!!!  Take corners slower than you normally would, break softer and earlier than you normally would – in a nutshell avoid sudden sharp & erratic movements! Also, think about your route and alternative routes – where possible avoid speed bumps, steep inclines etc…

  • If you follow the above instructions, your cake will arrive safely. We cannot take responsibility for any damage that may occur once it has left our premises.

STORING YOUR CAKE

Full storage and cutting instructions will be provided upon collection but as a general rule.....

  • The cake / cupcakes should be stored at room temperature in the box provided. It should not be refrigerated as this will dry out the cake and could also damage the decoration on the cake. Avoid direct heat sources such as radiators and sunlight - including windows where sunlight can shine through.
  • Once cut, using clingfilm, wrap any left over cake thoroughly to prevent it from drying out.
  • Your cake will be best eaten within 2 days of collection but if stored correctly, it can be enjoyed beyond this too.

We are based in Woodley, Reading, Berkshire and can deliver to all surrounding areas.....
